Tom Stark Obituary, Death Cause – We are saddened to inform you that Thomas M. Stark, who resided in Maple Plain, Minnesota, passed away on March 4, 2023. His passing comes as a shock to all of us. On December 10, 2022, Mr. Thomas STARK, III, who lived in Amelia and was 90 years old, passed away. His parents, Thomas Stark Jr. and Clara West Stark, as well as his wife, Katherine Graves Weisiger Stark, and his sister, Nancy Stark Garrett, passed away before he did. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Stark Garrett; his daughters, M. Cary Stark Cronemeyer of Richmond and Elizabeth Anne Stark Rakiec (Stan) of East Haven, Connecticut; his son, Thomas Stark IV (Mindy) of Powhatan; five grandkids; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
He will be missed. He received his education from Amelia High School, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and the University of Richmond’s T.C. Williams School of Law. During the time of the Korean War, he received a commission in the United States Army and served as an officer in that capacity. During his 61 years as a lawyer in Amelia, Virginia, and the adjacent counties in Southside Virginia, he also served as the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Amelia for 32 of those years.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Amelia, and a graveside service will immediately follow in Grub Hill Church Cemetery in Amelia. In lieu of sending flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Christ Episcopal Church, which is located in Amelia, Virginia. On Saturday, December 17, the family will host a visitation at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home in Amelia, Virginia from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for friends and loved ones.
