Sunrise Highway Accident –One person was killed and three others were injured as a result of a collision that took place on Sunrise Highway between Broadway and Lincoln Boulevard in Sayville, according to the findings of the local authorities who investigated the incident. The accident involved seven vehicles.
The information that was provided by the police indicates that a call to 911 was placed regarding the incident at approximately 4:35 in the morning. On the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway, there was a stretch that was approximately 700 feet long that was littered with wrecked vehicles and car parts.
This stretch was caused by an accident. This section was situated in close proximity to Exit 50A in the highway. It would appear that one of the vehicles has become upside down and is now on its roof.Officers reported that there were four patients who required immediate medical attention and were taken to the hospital as a result.
Kelvin Saula-Bueno, who is 22 years old and hails from Bay Shore, is suspected of being the driver of a 2002 Toyota Celica. After being in an accident at Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, the police say that he was pronounced dead at the hospital, where he was taken after the accident.
The authorities have reported that they are currently searching for the driver of a 2012 Mazda that ran away from the scene of the accident after it took place and have stated that they are looking for them right now. The westbound exit lanes close to exit 50 were blocked off for a good number of hours in order to make the investigation go more efficiently.
In spite of this, all lanes of the Sunrise Highway have been reopened to traffic at this point.
