Her choice to work in the field of psychotherapy and counseling was influenced by the events she went through. She attended W. J. Keenan for her high schooling and graduated with the class of 1998. She obtained her diploma from that institution. She attended East Carolina University, which is located in Greenville, North Carolina, for her undergraduate education and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreational and Leisure Studies there.
After that, she pursued further education at Webster University and ultimately received a Master of Science degree in Community Counseling from there. She went on to earn a certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, and she has put the abilities she gained through that process to using in a wide variety of contexts over the course of her life.
