Peter Dolan Obituary, Death Cause – This week, we were robbed of one of our best members. Peter Dolan, a member of the class of 1985, recently suffered from a health problem in his hometown of Carbondale, Colorado, which ultimately led to his passing.
He is leaving behind his wife, Julie, as well as their children, Riley and Jamie. The news of Peter’s passing has hit me extremely hard, and I’m sure it will have the same effect on others when they hear the sad news as well. In the early days of the SMC Lacrosse team, Peter and I served as co-captains together for two years.
At that time, we forged a close bond that has lasted for the past four decades. Peter left his hometown many years ago in order to pursue his dreams of being a prosperous businessman and builder in Aspen, Colorado. In spite of the physical separation, he never failed to make the necessary efforts to maintain consistent communication with us and to guarantee that we would see each other at least once per year.
In many ways, he served as the adhesive that kept the conversation continuing amongst many of us over the course of those many years. He was a remarkable individual who cherished life and all the fantastic opportunities it presented.
Most importantly, he sincerely cared for the people who were closest to him, and he made sure that you were acutely aware of this affection whenever you were in his company. Because of his genuine interest in your life and the lives of those in your family, he always began the conversation with asking about you and your family.
This information is very difficult for me to digest.
Life is actually quite precarious. I’d like to encourage all of you to reach out to a friend or family member today and let them know how much you value their presence in your life. The fact that Peter Dolan was a friend to me was an incredible blessing.
I want everyone of you to be aware of how significant a role each of you has played in molding me into the person I am today.
