Patrick Jacque Obituary, Death Cause – The news of the demise of Patrick Jacques, an actor, advocate, and mentor in the local theatre scene here in Alpena for many years, has left us in a state of deep sadness. Over the course of his career, he has appeared on stage numerous times at both the Thunder Bay Theatre and the Alpena Civic Theater. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as well as everyone whose life he impacted in some way. Patrick Francis Jacques, age 76, of Alpena, Michigan, passed away at MyMichigan Medical Center – Alpena on Sunday, March 5, 2023, after what appears to have been a heart attack.
On February 16, 1947, Patrick Jacques was born in Alpena to John and Thelma (Boucher) Jacques, who have since passed away. He started his education at Alcona High School and continued it at Central Michigan University, both of which he graduated from. He spent 37 years as a classroom instructor for the Alpena Public Schools before taking early retirement in 2006. When he was teaching, he directed 37 plays at the high school. He was a member of the Ruffed Grouse Society, Ducks Unlimited, the PK Fletcher Gun Club, the Wolf Ridge Hunting Club, and he simply enjoyed being outside. He was involved in both the Thunder Bay Theater and the Alpena Civic Theater. He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited.
His wife, Raleigh, and their two daughters, Elizabeth (Jennifer Johnson) Jacques and Catherine (Paul) Chaplin, as well as their four grandkids, Jane Schmanski, Jack Schmanski, Christian Chaplin, and Claudia Chaplin, are among those who have been left behind. Paul Jacques, Mr. Jacques’s brother, passed away prior to Mr. Jacques’s passing. The Bannan Funeral Home will be open for visitation on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., and there will be a prayer service held at the local parish at 6 p.m. On Friday, visitation will take place in the St. Bernard Church of All Saints Parish beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., which will be presided over by the Reverend Michael Lingaur.
