Smith and Elta Pearl (Clay) Smith. At the age of 68, Nancy went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 6, 2023, in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She had been a Christian for much of her life.
Nancy received her diploma from Lookeba-Sickles High School, where she was a member of the basketball team and was chosen to share the role of co-valedictorian for her final year. Following high school, Nancy started working at 3M when she met Joe Shaffer. At Sickles, Oklahoma, on the 10th of January in 1975, the couple tied the knot. Jennifer was predestined to be their daughter by God, and the year 1980 marked the year of her birth.
Nancy and Joe later chose Billy Miller to be joined to their family and God melded the family together. She loved and enjoyed her family above all else, but she also took pleasure in other activities, such as gardening, cooking, making crafts, and giving presents to others. After Jennifer received her high school diploma, Nancy began her career as an employee of the Weatherford Public Schools.
She held the position of school secretary there for the entirety of her 18-year tenure there. She had a deep fondness for both the students and the staff at the school, whom she referred to as “Her Family.” The students and staff lovingly called her “Miss Nancy.” She had been attending the Pine Acres Mennonite Brethren Church in Weatherford, Oklahoma for a significant amount of time.
