Lloyd Lamb Obituary, Death Cause – We are sorry to inform you of the passing of Lloyd Lamb, who had previously held the positions of Chief Executive Officer and Fair Manager from 1990 to 1999. His tenure with the company began in 1990. Our hearts are filled with sadness at the news of his demise. As Lloyd was growing up, he took part in competitions involving dairy cows, and in 1942, he was presented with the prestigious title of Champion Guernsey Heifer.
In 1979, he was elected to the board of directors of the Erie County Agricultural Society, and in 1999, the society bestowed upon him the honorary title of Director Emeritus. He had served on the board for a total of 16 years. During the better part of the last half century, Lloyd was an active member of the Erie County Agricultural Society, and throughout that time, he participated in a variety of the society’s events.
When questioned about his approach to management, he responded by saying that his goal was to “create a staff that doesn’t know what the word ‘leave’ means.” This was in response to the question of how he managed his employees. In other words, he desired to remove the necessity for employees to resign from their positions. When it came time for us to part ways, he would always wish us well and tell us to “keep smiling.” This was his way of saying goodbye. During this difficult time, we want his loved ones, friends, and coworkers to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers.
