John James Obituary, Cause Of Death – John-Hunter This morning at around three in the morning, James, a student at Columbia International University, passed away unexpectedly after being involved in an automobile accident in the state of Georgia. As we deliver the news to his family and friends at CIU, we want to offer our most heartfelt sympathies to each and every one of them.
Three other students who were riding in the car with him also sustained injuries, but the doctors determined that their conditions were not critical and discharged them from the hospital. He is the only one who remains hospitalized. John-Hunter was in his final year of college and was studying business as his major.
It was commonly known that he had an extremely strong work ethic and that he loved both Jesus and his colleagues on the basketball team. He was one of the athletes in CIU’s history who got the most distinctions and trophies. He is the only athlete in the annals of the men’s track and field program to ever win an NAIA National Championship in their respective event.
He was victorious in the men’s pole vault competition at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships in both 2020 and 2021. He is an exceptional pole vaulter. John-Hunter was a graduate of Dutch Fork High School. He was originally from Irmo, which is located just outside of Columbia.
