When Graeme accepted the position of Group Scout Leader in 1995, it marked the beginning of his association with the 88th, which he continued to hold for the subsequent 15 years.
Graeme received his first award, the Medal of Merit, in 1998, and he went on to receive the Silver Acorn Award in 2012. Both of these awards are commendations for outstanding achievement. In addition, Graeme was presented with an award in recognition of his 15, 25, and 40 years of service to the organization.
Graeme served in this capacity for the entire duration of his time with the 88th. Not only by the people who were closest to Graeme, but also by the larger Scouting community as a whole, Graeme’s dedication to the Scouting movement was recognized throughout the entirety of his time spent working as a Scout.
In a typical scenario, we would buy an award and then attach the plaque to it. Graeme’s approach, on the other hand, was not typical in this regard and differed from the norm.
