Dorothy Magby Obituary, Cause Of Death – Dorothy Magby-Mickens was an active member of the Mt. Olive Baptists Church in Logan, West Virginia, where she had been a member for more than 88 years prior to moving to Charlotte, North Carolina. She had been a member of the church for the entirety of her life.
And Wonderful News She is survived by her children Charles H. Magby, Clarence D. Magby, Antonio Magby, Priscilla Hall, and Debbie (Sherman) Brown; a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. She also leaves behind a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren
In addition to singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school, she was also the chairwoman of the churches in the county, the secretary of her own church, and the president of the Mission Circle during her time at this particular church. Mrs. Magby-Mickens had a significant impact on the community in which she lived.
She was a member of the board of directors of the Guyan Valley District Women’s Convention and P.R.I.D.E., an assistant secretary in the Deaconess’ Council, a member of the Queen of Shelba Chapter No. 8 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ernest Workers No. 73 of the Courts of Calanthes, the Logan County Women’s Federated Club, the NAACP, AARP, and the Courts of Calanthes.
