Chris Byrne Obituary, Cause Of Death – Today marks the passing of Chris Byrne, who was a resident of Ellerston Port. At the Chester Friends of Palestine demonstration that took place at the Chester Crown Court, Chris, a true fighter who had spent his entire life fighting for justice, tragically passed away from a heart attack.
He was lending his support to other members of the PCS who were accused of committing criminal damage against British industries that produced armaments for Israel. Throughout the past few years, Chris had been very active in favor of the Palestinian cause, including participating in the annual Great Ride for Palestine. He had been an activist for the T&GWU and Unite for a significant amount of time while working at Vauxhalls.
From even before the start of the Miners’ Strike, he had been an active member of the Trades Council’s delegate body. He was a member of the WRP for a good portion of its existence. In recent years, he had participated in the Trades Council less frequently, sometimes due to conflicts with his running schedule on the nights that sessions were scheduled. Nonetheless, despite this, he attended several of our demonstrations to show his support.
