Andrew DeGroot Obituary, Death Cause – Andrew DeGroot was a well-respected citizen of the Brampton community and has resided in this city for a substantial amount of his life. When I found out that he had passed away, I was taken aback because he had lived a large portion of his life in this region. As a result, I was taken aback when I realized that he had passed away.
My first encounter with Andrew occurred in 2018, and at the time, he was serving as a volunteer for a mayoral campaign that was running against mine. We immediately hit it off and were fast friends. The three of us went out for some refreshments not too long after the election, and almost immediately after that, we started getting along pretty well with one another.
This was the beginning of our friendship. I became aware of the fact that he possessed a wealth of insightful views almost immediately, and I also became aware of the fact that he had realistic doubts regarding a lot of the actions that were being carried out by the retiring old guard in the City.
As time went on, I saw that his reservations regarding a number of the actions taken by the city’s elderly leadership were well-based. This became clear to me as the reality that I became aware of as time went on. His legacy will be one of support for the improvement of public transportation, support for first responders, our downtown, and support for active transportation. His legacy will live on in these ways.
These are the ways in which his legacy will be carried on. These are the means by which his legacy will be preserved for future generations.
I can’t even begin to fathom the anguish that his family and friends must be going through as a direct result of his demise; my heart truly breaks for them. It was much earlier in his life than it should have been that he was taken away from us and made to grow up without us.
